Working in the semiconductor industry isn’t something you learn at school; you get into it and then learn “on the job” what it involves.

Working in the semiconductor industry isn’t something you learn at school; you get into it and then learn “on the job” what it involves. I started a long time ago as a test program developer—that is, the software that runs on the test equipment to check whether a chip meets its specifications. After doing this for several years, I transitioned to developing and maintaining the kind of software needed around this test process, such as real-time data acquisition and data analysis (time is money). This has given me above-average (pun intended) knowledge of statistics, which comes in very handy for the challenges we face at OrangGO.

In my free time, I am a glider pilot, especially focused on cross-country flying, where I try to cover long distances by using thermals. This requires constantly making decisions to stay airborne for hours using these natural forces and without an engine. This challenge remains incredibly fascinating, and just like in the semiconductor industry, you never stop learning.

Together with my team, I am responsible for overseeing the deployment of our technical solutions to clients worldwide. I’m involved in the projects from the sales process, technical intake, and proof of concept (POC) through to implementation. Traveling to Asia, within Europe, and to the USA is, of course, part of the job.

Besides these activities, I am part of the board, responsible for the overall management of the organization and for maintaining external contacts with our clients.

In my free time, you’ll often find me at the paragliding field at Eurofly. For me, paragliding is pure freedom. The moment I lift off from the ground, I feel the world beneath me fade away, and all that matters is the play of air, wind, and thermals—the daily worries simply disappear. No two flights are the same. You have to keep learning, keep sensing, keep adjusting. And that’s exactly what makes it so beautiful—and also what it has in common with the technical projects we work on for our clients.

With my background in automotive engineering, I entered the fascinating world of semiconductors in 2008. Since then, I’ve enjoyed finding targeted solutions to technical challenges faced by our clients.
Although direct contact with clients has become less frequent since COVID, analyzing and solving complex problems remains just as engaging and rewarding.

In my free time, I find that same challenge in France, where I enthusiastically work on restoring and renovating a charming old farmhouse. A perfect balance between using my mind and my hands!

Within OrangGO, I am responsible for HR. My focus is on attracting talent that aligns with our ambitions and culture. Bringing the right people together in the right positions is, in my view, a key driving force behind our growth.

Over the past few years, I have gained experience at both large and medium-sized organizations, including in recruitment and selection, absenteeism management, process optimization, and guiding employee inflow, development, and outflow. I now gladly apply that knowledge at OrangGO. Together with colleagues, I worked on this website to provide a clear picture of who we are and what we do—for customers and future colleagues.

In addition, I occasionally volunteer at the Grand Café of a nursing home. A cup of coffee and a good conversation can really make a difference there, and I get a lot of satisfaction from that contact.
When I’m not working, I enjoy reading a good book, going for a walk or bike ride, or relaxing with a drink on a terrace.

I’m not your typical software developer by background. In high school, I had little interest in technical subjects and went on to study Animal Management—hardly a clear path toward a career in software. But through a hobbyist curiosity and learning on the job, I eventually found my way into the field, and it turns out to suit me perfectly.
What I enjoy most is the creative, problem-solving nature of the work—whether it’s during the design phase, development, or supporting clients after deployment. It offers a nice variety of tasks and challenges. Plus, there’s always something new to learn, which keeps the job exciting and rewarding.

In my free time, I love being outdoors. Going for walks with my dogs or horseback riding are things I truly enjoy—they help me clear my mind and recharge.

As a senior software engineer, I translate client needs into clear requirements, develop these into a design, and ultimately build the software that fits. I regularly consult with clients to ensure that what we develop aligns with their expectations. This alignment makes all the difference: we don’t just build what is technically possible, but especially what adds value. Resolving issues in existing software is part of my job—software without bugs doesn’t exist. It requires sharpness, logical thinking, analysis, and collaboration with colleagues. This way, we quickly get to the heart of the issue and can work on a solid solution.

As an IT manager, I share responsibility within the board for IT and facility matters. Whether it’s a malfunctioning laptop or a question about the workspace, colleagues know they can come to me.

In my free time, I seek heights. I practice paragliding, focusing on cross-country flights. This involves launching from one location and flying, supported by thermals, dozens of kilometers to a completely different spot. It demands insight, patience, and perseverance—qualities that also come in handy when solving complex software problems.

About 30 years ago, after studying computer science, I grew into writing software for measuring instruments and various other types of software, with a strong focus on the semiconductor industry. A key area during those development years was creating processor emulators. This gave me deep insight into how (older) processors work, the link between software and hardware, and especially how to optimize code to perform as many operations as possible with minimal CPU cycles.

At OrangGO, I am responsible for the development division, where we focus on the acquisition, processing, and analysis of test and equipment data.

Besides these activities, I am also part of the board, responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the organization.

Outside of work, I enjoy learning new things by building projects myself (like my “house” project) and exploring 3D design, mechanics, and electronics. Together with my family and friends, we love traveling abroad — lately quite often to Austria 😉 — to actively discover the surroundings and soak up the culture.

I have now been working in the semiconductor industry for over 30 years. In the beginning, I worked on the ‘frontend’ side, but fairly quickly I moved into the ‘backend’ side. I’ve always enjoyed working in small teams. My responsibility for our software covers the entire development process. This means coming up with what to implement, listening to what the customer and the market need, then designing, implementing, and making sure it can be installed easily. Customer contact is important, but nowadays, largely thanks to cloud services, this mostly happens remotely.

In my free time, you’ll often find me out cycling. I also enjoy photography and spending time in the kitchen.

After starting as a software developer in the telecom industry, I realized my main interest was in developing software for Windows systems. Since then, I have been working in the semiconductor industry, focusing on software for back-end assembly processes. Initially, the focus was on a wafer mapping application for die bonder machines. Later, this expanded to cover the entire backend production line, where topics like substrate and single device tracking became important. What appeals to me about software development is the variety of the field. The continuous advancement of new technologies and tools keeps the work engaging and challenging.

In my free time, I like to relax with a good book, a game, or a walk in nature.

Ever since I graduated, I have been developing software for the semiconductor industry. A fine sector to work in for a techie like me, because our clients are on the same wavelength, which allows us to come up with pragmatic solutions together.

Since graduating, I’ve been developing software for the semiconductor industry. It’s a great sector for a techie like me because our clients are on the same wavelength, allowing us to work together on pragmatic solutions. There’s no stagnation here — even after 20 years, I’m still learning something new almost every week, not just about software development but also about the semiconductor industry and manufacturing in general. At OrangGO, we have a wealth of knowledge in-house, and colleagues are approachable, creating a supportive environment where everyone can be productively engaged and truly matters.

Besides development work, I serve as the ‘build master’ for a product where legacy tech stacks from the early 2000s converge with the latest frameworks. Our software is critical to factories worldwide, and a stable running product isn’t replaced lightly. So there’s always a balance between maintaining what exists and building something new to improve, speed up, or simplify processes.

In my free time, I enjoy going out with my family or diving into my hobbies. I play electric guitar, write and produce music, 3D print, edit videos, work with home automation, and experiment with local open-source AI. Much like software development, these hobbies let me express my creativity.

After graduating from university, I began my career in the semiconductor industry at NXP Semiconductors (Thailand), where I worked for ten years as a Wafer Test Process Engineer. Afterwards, I moved to Taiwan to study Chinese (Mandarin) for two years —a language learning experience that was on my bucket list. Living in Taiwan taught me to navigate new social environments and cultures, helping me discover different sides of myself.

After relocating to the Netherlands, I returned to the semiconductor industry, now working at OrangGO in the integration area. There’s still so much to learn, which keeps the work interesting.

This job energizes me—it offers challenges, enjoyment, and international friendships. I collaborate with colleagues and clients across various time zones, sometimes even speaking Mandarin or Thai. At this company, I grow both professionally and personally.

In my free time, I enjoy sleeping, reading books and articles in English and Mandarin, and I’m currently very interested in programming languages like Python, R, and SQL. I love continuously learning new things.

At OrangGO, I work on various projects, mostly the newer ones. It’s precisely that variety and the opportunity to work with modern technologies and frameworks that make my job especially interesting. I believe it’s important to produce high-quality software, so when there are tools that help achieve that, I quickly get enthusiastic.

Since I live a bit farther from the office, it’s nice to be able to work from home occasionally. That flexibility helps me maintain a good work-life balance.

Outside of work, I like to stay active. I’m trying to get back into running and exercising, and I often spend time gardening or doing small projects around the house. There’s always something to improve—much like software development.
